A state-of-the-art drinking water treatment facility was built for the residents of Saint John, New Brunswick.
This new facility improves the water quality over the former Latimer Lake Facility. It is capable of producing 75 million-liters of drinking water each day. The center piece of the facility are its three, 11 million-liter storage tanks (that’s 33 million-liters of storage in total). These tanks were designed to conserve space, while still being expandable if needed. In addition, the glass-fused-to-steel tanks require only predictive maintenance during their lifetime.
This project was recognized for its innovation and excellence with the Silver Award from the Canadian Council for Public-Private Partnerships and Project of the Year in 2018 by the Atlantic Canada Water & Wastewater Association. It was also the featured cover story in the June issue of ESE (Environmental Science and Engineering) magazine.
